Last weekend we watched this movie I remembered from my childhood. I could say how I liked it back in the 90's, but I wanted to watch it again to be sure it wouldn't be one of those things you ask yourself:"What was I thinking?" since I was never really fond of romantic comedies. But this one.
The movie has that very predictable happy-ending-plot, but this fact doesn't interfere with its successful execution. The story might be too common, but the dialogues are wonderfuly articulate and timeless. Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal really click, even playing characters that are opposites. The chemistry between Harry, which is played in a way you love and hate at the same time, and the flawless Sally works so well on screen that ended up making Meg Ryan inherit a whole series of romantic leading roles with better looking hollywood guys. None of those movies were as good as this one, I must say.
Another movie's strength is the soundtrack. Of an impeccable taste and crazy romantic, it makes the movie even more pleasant to watch when combined with the range of scenes involving this very colorful autumn and a beautiful white Christmas time.
Despite of being made in 1989, the movie didn't age a day and it's the real deal when it comes to what romantic comedies should stand for. It does make you feel more romantic, whether full of hope of finding someone special or so glad you found the One for you already - like I did.

Hi! I watched this movie when I was a teen and studied English at Number One at my hometown!
I agree, that´s the real romantic comedy and Meg Ryan was the queen of this kind of movie, at that time. Have you seen.. what is the original title? "Mensagem para vocĂȘ", with her and Tom Hanks?
Hug.
Hey, Leela, you've really changed! So now you like soccer and romantic comedies! What else? Shopping centers? |o|
